An investigation is underway into a reported shooting last night in rural Henderson County.
That’s according to the Henderson County Sheriffs Department, who says deputies were called to Hopper Road, north of Stronghurst, around 8:15 last night for a shots fired call.
Deputies say two people were involved, and one of them — 53-year old Elliot Sherdahl — was injured. According to a press release, Sherdahl drew a gun on the property of the victim.
That’s when the property owner used a shotgun to allegedly shoot Sherdahl in the face after investigators claim Sherdahl intended to use the gun.
Sherdahl was taken to Great River Medical Center in West Burlington, Iowa and then transferred to another hospital for additional treatment. His condition isn’t available, but deputies say the injuries aren’t believed to be life-threatening.
Sherdahl is being charged with attempted murder and unlawful aggravated use of a weapon. Several departments, including the Illinois State Police are said to be assisting in the investigation.
