Hepner, R. Marcia

R. Marcia Hepner, 76, of Galva, died at 5:10 PM, Sunday, May 11, 2014 at her home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, May 17 at Rux Funeral Home in Galva. Pastor Ivan Brake will officiate. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM, Friday, May 16 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Galva Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society or to the Assembly of God Church in Galva.

She was born December 24, 1937 in Schuyler County, IL, the daughter of Richard Paul and Ruth Mae (Lashbrook) Wheelhouse. She married Ronald L. “Ron” Hepner on February 26, 1961 in Galva. He survives, as do a son Randall (Angela) Hepner of Galva, a daughter, Ruth Hepner of Galva, three brothers, Richard (Rita) Wheelhouse of Kewanee, Rod Wheelhouse of Galva and Roger (Shirley) Wheelhouse of Galesburg, three sisters, Rose Hazelwood of Calais, ME and Becky Wheelhouse and Rita Mallery, both of Galva and five grandchildren, Jennifer, Lukas, Jordan and Cassandra Hepner and Brandon Macklin. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Russell “Russ” Hepner and a brother, Raymond Wheelhouse.

Marcia graduated high school and from Western Illinois University in Macomb with her teaching degree. She taught 6th grade at Wethersfield School, special education at Burns Twp. School and then for 29 years at Annawan School teaching 4th grade and then later 2nd grade. She was a member of Assembly of God Church in Galva. She enjoyed camping, crocheting, canning and cooking.
