Elaine S. Kneer, 95, of Galesburg, Illinois died at 10:40 A.M. Monday, May 12, 2014 at the Knox County Nursing Home in Knoxville, Illinois.
She was born on August 23, 1918 in Williamsfield, Illinois the daughter of William Otis and Myrtle Morgan Seward. She married Donald Kneer on September 19, 1938 in Canton, Missouri. He preceded her in death on June 12, 1998.
Elaine graduated from Williamsfield High School and attended Western Illinois University. She worked as a bookkeeper and accountant for several businesses including: Williamsfield Grain Elevator, Knox County Court House, International Mineral and Chemical in Williamsfield and Skokie, Weast Construction in Dahinda, and Coggins Trucking in Fort Myers, Florida. Elaine was a member of the Williamsfield United Methodist Church.
Elaine is survived by one son, Greg (Donna) Kneer of Galesburg; two grandchildren: Darcy (Joni) Kneer of Fenton, Missouri and Lisa (Kirt) Ervin of Aviston, Illinois, and four great grandchildren. Also surviving Elaine is her brother Kieth Seward of New Glarus, Wisconsin and her sister Joyce Hudson of Fort Myers, Florida. She was preceded in death by her husband, one brother, and two sisters.
Memorial services will be held at 11:30 A.M. on Thursday, May 15, 2014 at the Knoxville United Methodist Church in Knoxville, Illinois. Rev. Dan Lybarger will officiate. Visitation will be from 10:30 A.M. to 11:30 A.M. on Thursday, May 15, 2014 at the Knoxville United Methodist Church in Knoxville, Illinois. A private family burial will take place at the Williamsfield Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or to the Knoxville United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.
