Weather continues to be a problem this spring season for local high school sports. A number of games were called off for yesterday and today due to wet fields. Among those cancelled for today, the GHS Freshman baseball game against Rock Island, and the Varsity Baseball tournament the Silver Streaks are involved in at Metamora. Also, the United baseball game with ROWVA for today has also been cancelled.

Also today, the Galesburg Softball team will play Pekin, while the Western Big 6 Conference Boys Tennis Meet is this morning at Rock Island.

HIGH SCHOOL TRACK

Rockridge won the girls Secional Track meet hosted at Knoxville High School’s Larry Blodgett Memorial Field yesterday. Mercer County came in second, with the host lady Blue Bullets taking third. In order, Rockridge placed fourth, followed by Elmwood-Brimfield, Sherrard, Stark County, Princeville, ROWVA, Farmington, Bushnell-Prairie City, Orion, and West Central. Locally, Knoxville’s Ryan Block placed first in the 3200 Meter Run and the 1600 Meter Run, Paige Putnam of Knoxville won the Shot Put. ROWVA’s Kyla Bledsoe won in the Discus. The State meet takes place next weekend at Eastern Illinois University.
