Withrow, Eric A.

Eric A. Withrow, 53, of Galva, died at 12:10 PM Tuesday, May 13, 2014 in the emergency room at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, May 19 at Rux Funeral Home in Galva. Visitation will be held from 2:00-6:00 PM, Sunday, May 18 at the funeral home. Cremation will be accorded following the services with a committal of ashes at Wolf Creek Cemetery in Williamsville Twp, in Sangamon County at a later date. Memorials may be directed to an educational fund for his daughters, Nicole and Ashley.

He was born March 26, 1961 in Springfield, IL, the son of Carl F. and Ethel L. (Prindle) Withrow. Eric is survived by his wife, Talona, his daughters, Nicole and Ashley, both at home, his mother, Ethel Withrow of Sherman, IL, two brothers, Chris (Denise) Harney of Springfield, IL and Alan (Nancy) Withrow of Sherman, IL, two sisters, Melanie Bice and MaryBeth (Mike) Fawns, both of Sherman and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Carl and a brother-in-law, Steve Bice.

Eric graduated from Williamsville High School in 1979. He was a land surveyor crew chief for over 25 years and began his career in Austin, TX. He worked at Greene & Bradford in Springfield for 18 years where he met his wife, Talona (Meyer) of 19 years. He finished his career at Bruner, Cooper & Zuck in Galesburg where he had worked for the last 8 years. While in Petersburg, IL., he served as chairman of the Menard County Zoning Board of Appeals. Eric was a devoted husband and father who always put his family first. He never met a stranger and was known for his infectious smile and easy going nature.

He was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed watching his daughters, Nicole and Ashley, never missing an event. He loved the St. Louis Cardinals, NASCAR and playing golf. He was also an accomplished guitarist. Eric deeply loved his family and loved life and all those that knew him will miss him dearly.
