A number of area baseball and softball games were cancelled yesterday due to wet field conditions after days of rain, but the weather didn’t stop the Galesburg High School Softball team from dominating Pekin. The Streaks improved to 14-17 overall by defeating Pekin both games of a doubleheader 5-4 and 11-1. Four of the Streaks runs in game 1 came in the first inning, while Pekin’s four runs came in the last inning. In game two, the Streaks started with a seven-run first inning. Becca Tharp and Johanna Smith were the winning pitchers for the Streaks.

HIGH SCHOOL TENNIS

The Galesburg Silver Streaks Boys Tennis team placed fourth at the Western Big 6 conference meet in Rock Island Saturday. Moline was the conference champion.
