The Knox County Coroner has identified the Galesburg man who died Saturday evening as the result of an accident Saturday morning near the Henderson Street McDonalds location.
Coroner Mark Thomas says he pronounced 40-year-old Robert Reeder dead just after five p-m Saturday — about seven hours after he was first taken to Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
Galesburg Police say they were called to Henderson and Benard Streets around 10:30 Saturday morning. They say a vehicle driven by 69-year-old Donna Foster struck Reeder.
Eyewitnesses tell us Reeder was trying to cross the street when he was struck, and that he was taken to the hospital after CPR had been performed.
Police reports state Reeder had a blood-alcohol level around twice the legal limit when he was struck.
It’s not believed any citations were issued in the incident.
Thomas says an autopsy on Reeder will be conducted today.
