Although there are several moving parts, tonight’s meeting will likely see approval given to annex land at the corner of North Seminary and Carl Sandburg Drive.
First, the City Council will need a two-thirds vote to approve the pre-annexation agreement for the currently vacant parcel.
That will be followed by the actual annexation of the land – and because the land is new city property, zoning designations will also need separate approval.
Finally, approval of the minor plat for the proposed subdivision will need City Council approval before it can proceed.
The “Benny Schachtrup Subdivision” as it will be named, came about when the corner of land at the site was slated for the development of a new Casey’s General Store.
According to City documents, the budget will see costs added for plumbing and utilities at the site, but the City believes sales and property taxes will increase revenue with any new development.
Tonight’s meeting begins at 6:30 at Galesburg City Hall.
