Spaulding, Marjorie Lucille

Funeral services for Marjorie Lucille Spaulding, 93, formerly of Little York, IL, will be held at 10:30 A.M. Saturday, May 24, 2014 at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel in Monmouth, IL. Burial will follow at Little York Cemetery.

She died May 17 at Medicalodges in Eudora, KS Marjorie was born May 27, 1920, on the family farm near Little York, IL, the daughter of Archie and Georgia (Osborne) Campbell. She graduated from Alexis High School in 1938. Marjorie married Ishmeal Spaulding on May 20, 1943, in Canton, MO. They farmed in the Little York area until his death on September 12, 1965.

She was a homemaker and later worked as an LPN for the Monmouth Nursing Home, Dr. Marshall in Monmouth, and the Methodist Nursing Homes in Quincy, IL and Topeka, KS until her retirement in 1982.

She enjoyed crocheting, quilting, reading, gardening, and spending time with her family. She was especially gifted at making rugs, both loomed and crocheted, which she did for over 60 years. She was a member of the Little York Methodist Church and attended the United Methodist Church in Eudora and the Marshall United Methodist Church in Marshall, MI.

Survivors include son, Gayland of Battle Creek, MI; daughter and son-in-law, Jeannine and Dale Sample of Eudora, KS, and grandson, Kristopher Sample of Kansas City, MO. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents; sister, Fara Reitman; son’s partner, David King; and grandson, Jason Sample.

Her family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the Chapel. In lieu of flowers, her family suggests memorials in her name to the Eudora Secondary School Libraries, attn.
