Hodge, Charlotte Irene

Charlotte Irene Hodge, age 80, of Gilson, Illinois died on Sunday, May 18, 2014 at Cottage Hospital, Galesburg, Illinois.

Charlotte was born December 29, 1933, in Galva, Illinois, the daughter of Wilson and Alma LaFollette Plym. She married Harry L. Hodge in Knoxville, Illinois on September 22, 1951. He preceded her in death on August 24, 1986.

She was raised and educated in La Fayette, Illinois and graduated from Williamsfield High School. Charlotte worked as a book keeper for McQue Oil, Cooley Ag, and Henderson Florist in Knoxville. She last worked at the Gilson Library.

Charlotte was a member of the Gilson Community Church. She was a founding member of the Haw Creek Archers, a member of the Road Runner CB Club, and served on the Knox County Election Board.

Charlotte is survived by her son, Harry John (Rebecca) Hodge of O’Fallon, Missouri; three grandchildren, Jeromy (Amy) Hodge of Nashville, Tennessee, Christopher Hodge of O’Fallon, Missouri, and Teresa Hodge of St. Peters, Missouri; three great grandchildren, Case and Celia Hodge. Also surviving are two siblings, a brother, Robert “Bob” Plym of Lehigh Acres, Florida and a sister, Linda Kelly of Wataga, Illinois. Charlotte is preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Robert Hodge and a sister Ruth Anderson.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, May 24, 2014 at the Knoxville Cemetery. Rev. Renee Hart will officiate Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Friday, May 23, 2014 at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home in Knoxville, Illinois. A fellowship will follow the graveside service at the Hurd Hendricks Fellowship Center. Memorials may be left to the American Lung Association.
