Before the barbecues, and massive parties started residents of Cameron gathered yesterday afternoon at the local cemetery.
They were there for two reasons, the dedication of the brand new arch welcoming people to Silent Home Cemetery and to honor the veterans over the Memorial Day weekend.
This year’s ceremony invited the President of the Warren County Chapter of the Daughters of the Revolution Joann Deuger to speak about what the DAR is and she told those in attendance it’s a perfect time to stop and reflect on our past and the freedoms we have today.
“Memorial Day it i fitting that we remember those men that gave their lives for our Countries freedoms as well as all those who have served in other wars since to maintain that freedom.”
The ceremony also featured a 21-gun salute from the patriot guard as well as a reading from a United North student whose essay about the American Revolution was selected as a contest winner by the DAR.
They concluded with the reading of the Veteran’s Roll Call.
