Donahue, Mark C.

Mark C. Donahue, 60, of Carman, formerly of Galesburg, died 8:50 A.M. Monday, May 26, 2014, at Great River Medical Center, Burlington, IA.

He was born December 21, 1953 in St. Louis, MO the son of Richard and Virginia (Sorensen) Donahue. He was raised in St. Louis and later at Little Swan Lake near Avon, IL, graduating from Avon High School in 1972. He attended Western Illinois University. On June 9, 1978 he married Debra Ann Biddle in Monmouth and she is surviving.

Mark made a career with the Burlington Northern Railroad as a conductor, retiring in March 2014. He loved playing golf, playing cards and cooking out. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan. He had served as a union representative with the railroad. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Debra, daughter, Mollie (Jerry) Gossett of Rock Island, son, Michael Donahue of Lincoln, IL, two grandchildren, Liam and Logann Gossett, two sisters, Toni Donahue of Kernersville, NC and Christy (Rob) Wright of Myrtle Beach, SC and one brother, Richard Donahue along with nieces and nephews. Those who preceded him in death were his parents and stepfather, Jack Lail and brother, Brian Donahue.

Private family services and burial will be held. Friends may call on Friday, May 30, 2014 at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Monmouth, where his family will present from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Burial will be in Cedar Creek Cemetery, Little York, Illinois. Memorials may be left to be designated later. Online condolences may be left at hooverhall.com.
