Reimer, Maxine

Maxine Reimer, age 93, of Austin, Texas, and formerly of Abingdon, died at 12:45 pm Monday, May 26, 2014 at St. David Medical Center in Austin.

She was born on April 24, 1921 in Fenton, Illinois, the daughter of Arthur H. and Edna Marie (Barnhard) Cooper. She married William “Bud” H. Reimer, Jr., on May 23, 1941 in Lyons, Iowa. He preceded her in death on March 16, 2008. She was also preceded in death by her parents and three brothers.

She is survived by a son, William “Bill” H. (and Starr) Reimer III of Austin, Texas; a grandson, William “Will” H. (and Megan) Reimer, IV also of Austin, Texas.

She graduated from Clinton High School in Clinton, Iowa in 1937. She had lived in Abingdon most of her married life. She worked as Deputy for the Knox County Sheriff’s Office for 12 years, retiring on December 8, 1978. She was a member and past president of the Harry E. Wiles American Legion Post #381 Auxiliary, past president of the 15th District American Legion Auxiliary, and was a member and past chapeau of 8/40 Salon #215. She was of the Methodist Faith.

Graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens in Galesburg. Mrs. Eleanor Landon will officiate. There will be no visitation. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Legion Post #381 Auxiliary or the Alzheimer’s Association, Capital of Texas Chapter in memory of Maxine Reimer.
