Lacy-Brown, Virginia Mae

Virginia Mae “Ginny” Lacy-Brown, loving mother and dear friend to all, danced her way into Heaven on May 28th 2014 at her home in Knoxville, Illinois.

She was born on September 22, 1922 in Galesburg, Illinois the daughter of Karl V. and Rose M. Sparks Lacy. She attended eight years at the Newman School and then attended and graduated from Knoxville High School in 1940. She married Harry W. Brown on February 28, 1942 in Kahoka, Missouri. He preceded her in death on September 9, 1991.

Surviving are her children: William (Connie) L. Brown of Titusville, Florida, Charles (Pat) L. Brown of Galesburg, Illinois, and Cheryl (Mark) L. Affeldt of Tucson, Arizona; six grandchildren and several great grandchildren; her sister, Mary Lou Champion of Galesburg, Illinois, and her dearest friend of eighteen years, Charles “Woody” Woods of Knoxville, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one grandchild.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a member of the Knoxville Women’s Club and Women of the Moose. She was a past member of Bethany Baptist Church. 

Graveside Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at the Knoxville Cemetery, Knoxville, Illinois. Rev. Andrew Ainley will officiate. Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Friday, May 30, 2014 at her home, 406 East Main Street, in Knoxville, Illinois. Interment will be in the Knoxville Cemetery, Knoxville, Illinois. Per Ginny’s request in lieu of flowers donations may be made to the OAKS, where she looked forward to dancing and socializing.
