Man Accused of Arsons Pleads Not Guilty

Blake WalshA Williamsfield man who was identified as a volunteer firefighter there at the time of his arrest, has pleaded not guilty to charges including Arson.

Knox County Circuit Court records indicate 24-year-old Blake Walsh was arraigned yesterday in five separate felony cases on counts of Arson and Criminal Damage to Property. Through a Public Defender, Walsh pleaded not guilty and asked for a trial by jury.

Walsh was arrested in mid-April. Knox County Sheriffs Department investigators said at the time that Walsh allegedly set dozens of hay bales on fire in the Williamsfield area between last November and last month.

He is also accused of lighting a dumpster on fire behind a retailer at the Seminary Square Shopping Center in Galesburg.

A pre-trial hearing is scheduled for Monday, with a potential trial date a couple of weeks after that.
