Police officials confirm that the body was found yesterday afternoon in the old Farmington High School. According to a press release, the owners of what’s now called “Old School Center” called police yesterday afternoon after four o’clock when they discovered a suspicious odor coming from the third floor of the building — which is where the fire is believed to have started.
Chief Carl Powell says in the release that an autopsy on the body is being conducted this afternoon, and there were no reports of missing persons in the area prior to the fire starting in the early morning hours May 15th.
Meantime, officials are still investigating the exact cause of the fire. Anyone with information is being asked to call the Fulton County Crime Stoppers hotline, or the Illinois State Fire Marshall’s hotline.
