Conway, Lila A.

Lila A. Conway, 91, of Kewanee, passed away at 8:05 AM Saturday, May 31, 2014 at the Kewanee Care Home.

Funeral services will be held at 10 AM Tuesday, June 3 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee. Rev. Paul Copeland will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Evergreen Memory Gardens in rural Kewanee. Memorials may be directed to the Homemakers Division of the Henry County Health Department or to the Henry County Humane Society.

She was born June 30, 1922 in Berwick, IL, the daughter of George Raymond and Maude (Perdue) Button. Survivors include two daughters, Marjorie (Terry) Wickey and Peggy (Gary) Hadsall, both of Kewanee, a son, Raymond (Sandra) Conway of Gilmer, TX., ten grandchildren, Daniel Wickey of Los Angeles,CA, Teresa (Marty) Mirocha of Kewanee, Walter (Marci Striker) Wickey of Kewanee, Tim Conway of Neponset, Todd Lapin of Moline, Annette (Ronald) Finney of  Kewanee, Chad Conway of Kewanee, and Justin, Sean and Ryan Conway, all of Gilmer, TX., ten great grandchildren Megan (Brad), Molly, Mackenzie, Dakota, Tyler, Bryce, Anna, Braydon, Vanessa and Dixie and two great-great grandchildren, Marissa and Ryan. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Marion Button and a grandson, David L. Conway.

Lila had worked at various business in Kewanee including, JC Penney, SS Kresge’s, Blacks True-Value, The Plum Barrell and as a sales clerk at Wal-Mart, retiring in 1993. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Kewanee and the Kewanee Rebekah Lodge #512. She enjoyed sewing and doing alterations. In her later life she had designed and made quilts for her children and grandchildren and had started making them for her great and great-great grandchildren.
