Linda J. Boynton, age 65, of Galesburg, Illinois died on Thursday, May 29, 2014 at her home in Galesburg, Illinois.
She was born on November 29, 1948 in Siloam Springs, Arkansas the daughter of Andrew and Jesse Jane Dominques Small. She married Paul E. Boynton on January 11, 1975 in Galesburg, Illinois. He preceded her in death on February 1, 2009.
Surviving are her children: Shannon (Jennifer) Loving of Knoxville, Illinois and Nathan (Hillary) Boynton of Davenport, Iowa; her step-children, including Bobbette Ramage of Galesburg, Illinois; four grandchildren, Dash Loving, Lauren Boynton, Allison Boynton, and Marissa Boynton; one brother, Herb (Sharon) Small of Winfield, Illinois; sisters-in-law, Margaret Jo Anne Crane of Galesburg, Illinois and Joanne Boynton of Galesburg, Illinois; brother-in-law, Terry (Cara) Boynton of Galesburg, Illinois; her best friend, Mary Purchase of Galesburg, Illinois, nieces and nephews, and many wonderful friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Paul, one son, Tobi Small, and three brothers.
She worked for the former Galesburg Mental Health Hospital in Galesburg, Illinois, went to nursing school and began her nursing career at the Knox County Nursing Home where she worked for twenty-five years. She finished her nursing career at the Abingdon Care Center in Abingdon, Illinois and Marigold Nursing Home in Galesburg, Illinois. In her retirement years, she enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas with her family.
Cremation rites will be accorded. Private graveside services will be at the Gilson Cemetery. A celebration of life service will be held at later date. In-lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the family and sent in care of Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home in Knoxville, Illinois.
