Drasites, Roy R.

Roy R. Drasites, 97, of Little Swan Lake, Avon, Ill. died at 7:58 a.m. Friday, May 30, 2014 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg.

He was born on August 31, 1916 in Chicago the son of Anton and Dora (Sirblis) Drasites. He married Loretta L. Rink on September 26, 1943 in the Quad Cities, Ill. She preceded him in death on January 31, 2014.

Roy is survived by two sons, Michael (and Cindi) Drasites of Little Swan Lake, Avon and Gary (and Julia) Drasites of Dahinda, Ill.; a daughter, Sharon Drasites deValenzuela of Bogota, Colombia; five grandchildren, Jose Maria, Mateo Andres, Arian, Tony and Jaretta; 10 great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Bailey, Ian, Lia, Martina, Luciana, Lorenza, Tristan, and Kara; and a sister, Lillian Schmeideknecht of Fort Myers, Fla.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one granddaughter, Maria Dolores; a son-in-law, Ulpiano deValenzuela; a daughter-in-law, Jaylene Drasites; and three brothers, Edward, John, and Anton Drasites.

Roy and Loretta were the owners of the Edgewood Lodge in Mikana, Wisc. They were also the founders and partners in D&D Automotive which later evolved into Galesburg Import Motors (Volkswagen) and later, Galesburg Toyota.

He was a member of the Concordia Lutheran Church in Burlington, Iowa. He enjoyed membership in Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Galesburg for many years.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, June 5, 2014 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with Rev. Christopher Roepke officiating. Visitation will be 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at the chapel. Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery, Galesburg. Memorials may be made to the Concordia Lutheran Church in Burlington. Online condolences may be left at www.h-p-w.com.
