It’s the start of a new season today for the Galesburg American Legion baseball team, as Post 285 will host Kewanee in a doubleheader at Knox College (beginning at 5pm). Head coach Steve Cheeseman’s team will be a veteran squad, returning six collegiate players that joined their high school teammates to post a record of 35-13 last summer. A pair of new assistant coaches will help out, as Dalton Davis and Ryan Molek will assist coach Cheeseman, who’s team will play their home games at Knox College and H.T. Custer Park for the first month of the season. Jim Sundburg Field on the Galesburg High School campus continues to be unavailable due to stadium improvements that have fallen behind schedule.
