A Galesburg man has officially been charged with multiple counts for allegedly leaving the scene of an accident involving death.
24-year-old Bryan Vann was in Knox County Circuit Court for a preliminary hearing, Tuesday.
Vann was the alleged driver of a vehicle that ran into a railroad underpass in the 400 block of McClure Street in Galesburg back in May.
That accident resulted in the death of 23-year-old Albert Prater even after crews extricated him from the vehicle. Prater was pronounced dead at a local hospital later that day.
Police located Vann a short while later in the 1500 block of McKnight Street where he was also taken in for medical treatment.
During Tuesday’s hearing, Vann was indicted on charges of failure to report an accident involving death, aggravated driving under the influence, and reckless homicide.
Court records indicate that Vann pleaded not guilty to the charges yesterday. Judge Scott Shipplett set bond at $500-thousand in the case.
Vann requested a jury trial in the case. He will next be back in court August 4th.
