WGIL Newsroom . Local News 152

The Galesburg Library Board of Trustees maybe looking ahead at a new library, but they still have problems to deal with at their current location.
Overall strides have been made on building repairs, including the bathroom, that was considered a sore spot for several board members.
But, things like the carpet and the railings off of the Simmons Street entrance are taking the main focus.
Trustee Wendel Hunigan told the board the rail is becoming a big problem and is only going to get worse.

“I think it’s a safety issue, I think it’s a disability issue and I think it’s something that needs to be definitely looked at.”

Library Director Harriett Zipfel told the board it would cost around a thousand dollars to fix the rail and really thought it was in the best interest of the library and its patrons to go ahead and make the repairs.
The board approved the work to be done by a Lee Brothers, a local company.
