ROCKFORD, Ill. (AP) — The remains of two baby girls found beneath garbage in the trunk of their mother’s car will be buried this week in northern Illinois, nearly five years after the gruesome discovery.
Detectives found the skeletal remains in 2009 while examining Katie Stockton’s car.
Police were investigating Stockton over the death of another daughter, known as Baby Chrystal, who was found frozen near the woman’s family home in Rockton in 2004. Stockton pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in that case and was sentenced to 50 years in prison.
No charges have been filed over the other two girls.
The Rockford Register Start reports that a court order allows Winnebago County Coroner Sue Fiduccia to bury their remains.
The funeral is scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday at Calvary Cemetery.
