It should be a beautiful evening for baseball in Galesburg as the Legion Post 285 team hosts Moline at Knox College.
Gametime is 5:30. Galesburg enters the contest with a record of 6-and-oh, after sweeping Chillicothe yesterday by scores of 4-0 and 6-0. Carson Cheeseman and Cody Hawthorne were the winning pitchers.
Railroad Days 3-on-3
This year’s Galesburg Railroad Days will feature the return of 3-on-3 basketball for area youth teams. The Costa Friars Club is hosting the event, and committee member Teri Peterson talks about how the once-popular tournament is being resurrected.
The Costa group is seeking more volunteers to serve as court monitors, scorekeepers, and timekeepers. Age groups participating can be from the 3rd through 8th grades, at a cost of $80 per team.
At it’s peak, the old 3-on-3 tournament also included high school and adult players, and used to fill all of main street from Seminary to Academy. However, a lack of officials and numerous cases of poor sportsmanship caused the demise of the event.
