Gardner, Thomas L.

Thomas L. Gardner, age 60, died on Saturday evening, May 31, 2014, at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee, WI, as a result of a motorcycle accident.

He was born June 3, 1953, in Galesburg, the son of Richard W. Gardner and Dorothy P. Finfrock Gardner. He married Nancy Strehlow in 1975. 

Surviving is a son, Jason (Alicen) Gardner of Milwaukee, WI, and a daughter, Sara E. (Pat) Regan of Butler, WI, and five grandchildren, Emily Gardner; Beau, Brody, Blake and Bella Regan. His sister, Jeanne Wiskirchen, of Cameron, IL, survives, along with nieces, nephews, and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, and an infant brother, Larry, in 1944. 

Tom was raised and educated in Galesburg, graduating from Galesburg High School in 1971. He left the area after high school to attend trade school in Milwaukee and settled there. He worked as a meat cutter, truck driver, and most recently at RCS Innovations in Milwaukee.

Tom enjoyed line dancing, skiing, playing pool, flying kites, and watching new and old movies. He loved carpentry and building projects and was always working with his hands. To the delight of his family and friends, Tom could fix anything. 

Cremation was accorded. Memorials may be made to Camp Kidz or The Hope Institute for Children and Families in Springfield, IL.

A celebration of Tom’s life and time of sharing will be held at Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home and Crematory in Knoxville, on Saturday, June 14, 2014, starting at 2:00 p.m. and Rev. Victor Justin Randle, Jr. will officiate. Private interment of ashes will be conducted at the Knoxville Cemetery at a later date. Online condolences may be left at www.hurd-hendricksfuneralhome.com
