Peterson, Alonzo

Alonzo “Pete” Peterson, 74, slipped peacefully from this world Saturday June 14, 2014, 9:15 pm in Macomb, IL.

He was born August 14 1939, in Avon, IL. He spent his first years in Greybull, WY with his parents, the late Henry and Pearl (Gordon) Peterson and his sister, Nancy. Pete married Jeri Anderson on December 27, 1974 at Little Swan Lake, IL.

Surviving to mourn his passing are his wife, Jeri; children Bev (Jack) Cherney, Lisa Lincoln, and Paul (Kathryn) Peterson; five grandchildren Connie Upton, Tom and Timmy Lincoln, and Chelsea and Brandon Peterson; two great grandchildren Jayson and Macy Upton, and one sister Nancy Frakes. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A graduate of Abingdon High School and Western Illinois University, Pete was the mathematics and building trades teacher for the Avon School District for 32 years, retiring in 1993. Pete took great pride in maintaining his home and yard in rural Roseville. If there was no snow on the ground he could usually be found mowing the yard, trimming or tending the pond.

Funeral service will be Wednesday June 18, 2014, 10:00 am, at the Corman Memorial Home Avon, IL. Family will receive friends on Tuesday eve June 17, 2014 from 5:00-7:00 pm at Corman’s Avon, IL.
