Abingdon-Avon school district officials say they’re still waiting to hear from the teachers union on whether the newest tweaks to their contract are ones teachers feel they can work with.
The board of education discussed the matter in closed session during Wednesday night’s meeting, however no decision was made.
Board President Sherry Lomax tells WGIL that although there wasn’t a vote on the matter, there could be some action as soon as Friday.
“They’re taking the results of that to their membership and we’ll see if it’s acceptable to them,” says Lomax.
Lomax says the union has a vote planned for Friday afternoon.
She says if the results of that vote are positive, the school board will hold a special meeting that evening to approve the contract.
