Mr. Glade O. Petrie  90, of Galesburg, died at 10:45 pm Tuesday, June 17, 2014 in Galesburg Cottage Hospital.

He was born August 23, 1923 in Abingdon, Ill. the son of Vivian and Helen E. Moore Petrie. He married Mary Ruth Cullen on October 18, 1947 in Galesburg. She survives.

Also surviving are his children, Gene (Marlene) Petrie of Burr Ridge, Ill. and Karen (Frank) Petrie Ebner of Naperville, Ill.; his sister, Ruth Ann (Robert) Petrie Hemenover of Cheyenne, Wyo. and four grandchildren, Christopher and Jeffrey Ebner and Brian and Jessica Petrie. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, George Petrie.Glade served in the Army during WWII 101st and 82nd Airborne Division as Staff Sgt. stationed in Europe and the United States. He was awarded the Bronze Star.He worked for Gale Products Division of Outboard Marine Corporation for 31 years, retiring in 1983.

He graduated from Abingdon High School in 1941. Glade was a devoted volunteer for the American Red Cross, Cottage Hospital Meals on Wheels and Boy Scouts. Glade was a member of the First United Methodist Church. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed.Graveside services are scheduled for 10 am Saturday, June 21, 2014 in Abingdon Cemetery with Military Rites by Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post 285. Mrs. Eleanor Landon will officiate. Visitation will be 5-7 pm Friday evening at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel.
