Phillips, James E.

James E. Phillips, 62 of Gilson, Illinois passed away Friday, June 20, 2014 at his home.

He was born on September 15, 1951 in Mansfield, Ohio the son of James R. and Dorothy Belle Stroble Phillips. He married Victoria Lynn Rhoads on May 15, 1987 in Pekin, Illinois. She survives and lives in Gilson, Illinois.

Also surviving are his children: Misty (Martin) Adriaanse, of Marana, Arizona; Samantha Thurman, Peoria, Illinois; Libby Phillips, Gilson, Illinois and his stepson, Steve Bodine of Wichita, Kansas. His grandchild Gavin Marinich survives and lives in Creve Cour, Illinois. Also surviving are his siblings: Don (Louise) Phillips of Mansfield, Ohio; Karen (Phillip) Leamon of Shelby, Ohio; Wendy (Vince) Schag of Mansfield, Ohio and Steve (Estelle) Phillips of Goodyear, Arizona. He was preceded in death by his parents.

He graduated from Mansfield High School. James worked for the Sherex Chemical Co and later Evonic Industries as a Reactor Operator where he retired after 30 years of service. He later became an owner operator truck driver. He enjoyed racing motorcycles.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at the Orange Chapel United Methodist Church in rural Gilson, Illinois. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 A.M at the church. Rev. Sue Bryce will be officiating the services. Burial will be held at the Cook Cemetery in Rural Maquon, Illinois. Memorials may be made to the Orange Chapel United Methodist Church. The Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home in Knoxville is assisting the family.
