Trains and Toys Come to Galesburg this Weekend

WGIL Newsroom . Local News 204

There’s so much to do this weekend at Railroad Days it might just be too much to handle.

But between the three-on-three basketball tournament, the Carnival, and the Rail-yard bus tour, don’t forget the toy and train show at Carl Sandburg College. The train show is a big attraction, and according the organizer Larry Anglund, it brings out a lot of people who collect trains.

Anglund tells the WGIL Morning News that during the summer, Galesburg’s show is the biggest in the Midwest and today it has become an expensive hobby.

“Cars that were a couple dollars are now 20, 40-dollars a piece and engines can range from 150 to 200 no sound to 300-dollars with sound,” says Anglund. “I say it isn’t a kids hobby anymore because of the price.”

Anglund says there will be full train set-ups and running and people can buy their own model train sets. There will also be a variety of different toys at the show.

The event runs both Saturday and Sunday.
