The Galesburg American Legion Baseball Team split the first two games it played in the Washington Legion Tournament yesterday. Post 285 lost to Limestone 6-2 in game 1, but garnered a victory in game 2 over Wilmette 5-4. In game 2, Colton German pitched a complete game, and Drew Claeys hit a two-run home run to help Post 285 to victory. They’ll play the host Washington Legion team at the tournament tonight at 5:30. Post 285 is now 15-7 on the season.
Several area youth golfers did well at the Western Illinois University Junior PGA Tour Tourmanent on Friday. In the Boys 11-and-Under division, Thomas Bumann of Woodhull placed second scoring a 44, while William Bumann of Woodhull earned fifth place with a 50. George Wright of Monmouth was sixth with a 61.
In the Boys 14-15 division, Jack Bumann of Woodhull got first place honors shooting an 81.
