Davenport Police Car Struck During Chase

WGIL Newsroom . State News 157

DAVENPORT, Iowa (AP) — Authorities say a Davenport police car was struck by another vehicle while chasing a criminal suspect.

The Quad-City Times reports that the police officer was unharmed, but two people suffered minor injuries after their vehicle struck the squad car on Friday night.

Authorities say the police officer was given permission to pursue a vehicle that was believed to be involved with a June 19th home invasion where shots were fired.

Police say the suspect fled from the officer, and the squad car was struck at an intersection by a northbound Pontiac. Six people were in the Pontiac, and two were taken to a local hospital. The officer has returned to his regular duties.

The Iowa State Patrol was called to the scene and is investigating the crash.
