Now that Pegasus Manufacturing is officially up and running, company representatives say their next step is to start hiring. Director of Operations Ray Whitehead says the entire operation has been moved from California to Galesburg and the equipment is being installed.
He says they’re looking for qualified CNC machinists as well as a number of other certified positions.
Whitehead tells the WGIL Morning News that they’re looking to hire people who may be right out of high school and have a good work ethic, but are just not looking for university experience.
“You know, offer an alternative to some of the young people,” says Whitehead. “If they don’t want to go to a four-year school today, manufacturing seems to be ebbing back towards bringing it home, doing a good job of building equipment in the United States like they used to, and it’s an alternative for some folks as opposed to a four-year school.”
Whitehead says they’re doing this by partnering up with Carl Sandburg College and creating an apprenticeship program. He says he’s very impressed with the attitude of the people in the Midwest and the residents of Galesburg.
Whitehead says if you’re interested in applying for a job, you can check out their website.
