Martinson, Frances C.

Frances C. Martinson, age 77, of Altona, Illinois died at 10:20 P.M. on Thursday, June 26, 2014 at her home in Galesburg, Illinois.

She was born December 22, 1936 in Victoria, Illinois the daughter of Lawrence S. and Garnet E. Ferris Gravitt. She attended and graduated from ROVA High School, then attended the Nursing program at Carl Sandburg College. She married James J. Martinson on March 27, 1954 in Peoria, Illinois. He preceded her in death on November 18, 2013.

He is survived by his children: James E. (Karole) Martinson of Victoria, Illinois; Julie (Steve) Jordan-Brandt of Oneida, Illinois; Jeffrey D. (Rose) Martinson of Oneida, Illinois; and Joseph “Joe” (Coleen) Martinson of Victoria, Illinois. Twelve grandchildren: Jessica (John) Kuelper, Emily Martinson, Molly (Mathew Kuelper) Martinson, Kyle (Jenna) Jordan, Benjamin Olson, Jeremy (Amy) Martinson, Nolan Martinson, Krissy Martinson, Nicki (Randy) Steward, Annie (Cory) Huffman, Josiah (Sarah) Martinson, Zachary Martinson. Twenty-four great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by her siblings: Bonnie (Bud) Westbay of Knoxville, Illinois, Gilbert (Cam) Gravitt of Delevan, Illinois, Samuel (Linda) Gravitt of Peoria, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents.

She was a Registered Nurse in the Galesburg area for many years. She was a member of the ROVA P.T.A., Oneida and Altona Women’s Club, the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Altona, Illinois and active in the church and WELCA. She was also a member of the Red Hats Society.

Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Monday, June 30, 2014 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Altona, Illinois. Rev. Tim Anderson officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM to 3:00 P.M. on Monday, June 30, 2014 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Altona, Illinois. Interment will be in the Walnut Grove Cemetery in Altona, Illinois.
