WGIL Newsroom . Local News, State News 178

CHICAGO (AP) — The National Weather Service plans to send storm damage survey teams into parts of northern Illinois after strong storms and heavy rains.

The weather service says the teams will deploy Tuesday. They’ll focus on Earlville in LaSalle County, Grant Park in Kankakee County, Morris in Grundy County and Plainfield in Will County.

The Rock Island Argus reports residents in one East Moline neighborhood were asked to evacuate because of significant flash flooding.

Flood warnings have been issued for the Chicago area and areas across northern and central Illinois. There were localized road closures in the Chicago area.

In western and southern Illinois there is a flood warning along the Mississippi River due to backwater.

Two rounds of severe storms moved across the region late Monday.
