WGIL Newsroom . Local News 156

Around 500 people, making up 20 teams came out last night to show their support for cancer survivors and those lost to the disease.
Last night at Sunny Lane Field in Monmouth the 2014 Relay for Life took over the track with Luminaria lining the track as teams started to set up and ready themselves for a night full of remembrance, fun and survival.
Participant Donna Lovedaho walks for her father-in-law, and two grandparents and she tells WGIL Relay for Life is a family event that helps build support for all those affected by cancer.

“I think that it’s good for survivors for them to see that there are people who are supporting them and supporting others who are going through the same thing that they are going through.”

This is the second year Lovedaho has participated in Relay and she says she hopes to continue the tradition with a larger team every year.
More than 300 people were honored with Luminaria bags during this years ceremony.
