17th District Congresswoman Cheri Bustos stopped by C-and-R Smokehouse yesterday afternoon to have a little lunch and conversation with Galesburg residents.
The Democratic Woman of Knox County hosted the Bustos meet and greet that aimed to connected local voters with the congresswoman.
Bustos says when she comes to events like the meet and greets she really likes to focus on meeting new people, and hearing what’s on their minds.
She tells WGIL being able to get out and meet her constituents is extremely important.
” I want to make sure that of the 711,000 people that live in the 17th congressional district of Illinois have access to me and have an outlet to make sure that they have a way of telling me what’s on their minds.”
Bustos says it’s her goal to take what she learned from yesterday’s meet and greet back to Washington.
She says job creation and retention is a common concern many of her constituents in Galesburg and throughout the 17th district still have.
Economic growth and ways to restore the middle class are also among the concerns Bustos hears about.
