Dickerson, James Lee

James Lee Dickerson, age 68, formerly of Abingdon and Galesburg, died at 10:20 pm Friday, July 11, 2014 at the Knox County Nursing Home in Knoxville, where he had resided since December of 2004.

He was born on July 31, 1945 in Galesburg, the son of Archie and Gertrude (Morse) Dickerson. He married Connie Queen in June of 2003 in Galesburg.

Jim is survived by his wife Connie; one brother, Dave Dickerson of Galesburg; one step-brother, Robert Dickerson of Salem, Oregon; two step-sons, David Queen of Galesburg and Pete Rose of Comanche, Iowa; and two step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his twin brother, John; one step-brother, Donald Dickerson, and two step-sisters, Helen Letcho and Marie Palmer.

Jim grew up in Abingdon and lived most of his adult life in Galesburg. He retired from Gates Rubber Company. His hobbies included riding motorcycles, bowling, watching NASCAR and going to the gun range.

Cremation was accorded. Graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at the Abingdon Cemetery. Mrs. Eleanor Landon will officiate. There will be no visitation. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
