Strickler, Lois M.

Lois M. Strickler 89, of Roseville, IL passed away Friday July 11, 2014, 3:20 pm at OSF St. Mary Medical Center Galesburg, IL. She was born in Media Township, Henderson County, Il on December 21, 1924. She was the daughter of Wilbur R. and Flossye (Thompson) Anderson.

Her early schooling was at the rural South Prairie School. She attended Media High School and graduated from there in 1942. Following graduation she attended Burlington Business College and then came back to work at the Raritan State Bank for several years.

She married Edwin Strickler at the home of her parents on December 10, 1950. She was a resident of the Henderson and Warren counties all of her life with the exception of being with Edwin at Camp Chaffee, Arkansas and Fort Sill, Oklahoma where he served in the US Army.

Lois enjoyed reading, traveling, nature, poetry and music, especially the big bands of Guy Lombardo and Lawrence Welk. She also enjoyed making new acquaintances and keeping in touch with her old ones, and her family and friends. She was a long time member of the Roseville United Methodist Church, and it’s United Methodist Women and of the Roseville Woman’s Club. She was quite proud of her Swedish heritage.

She is survived by her husband Edwin, daughter Kristine (James) Brown of Monmouth, IL, son Robert (Kim) Strickler of R.R. Roseville, IL, grandchildren Lauren Eggen, Jon, Sarah, and Brianna Strickler. Also surviving are step grandchildren Keith Brown, Michele Brown, and Julie Adcock, and 8 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sons (David and Jon Strickler), grandson (Brian Hendel), and her sister (Winifred Neff).

Funeral service will be Wednesday July 16, 2014, 10:30 am at the Roseville United Methodist Church. Family will receive friends on Tuesday July 15, 2014 from 6:00-8:00 pm at the Roseville United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the point Pleasant Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Point Pleasant Cemetery and or the Roseville United Methodist Church. Please sign the online guestbook at www.cormanmh.com.
