Watson, Beverly K.

Beverly K. “Superduck” Watson, 77, of Portland, Oregon fought cancer twice and was defeated July 3, 2014 at her home.

She was born June 29, 1927 in Macomb to parents Lester Trent and Garnett White and was the step-daughter of Charles White. She married Leonard Watson in 1958. He preceded her in death.

Beverly is survived by six children; Angela Hunter of Galesburg, Martin Trent of Portland, Oregon, Bryon Trent of Portland, Oregon, Stacey Watson of Portland, Oregon, Crystal (Earl) Brown of Portland, Oregon, and Scott Watson of Portland, Oregon; three adopted children, Angelica, Hollisha, and Asia Watson; as well as one brother Larry (Val) Trent of Galesburg and one sister, Winifred (LeRoy) Mack of Peoria.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Beverly worked at Maytag (Whirlpool) for thirty years until she retired in 1999. She loved to play bingo, card parties with friends and going to casinos. She especially loved cooking chicken and dressing as well as spending time with her children and grandchildren and going to church. She was a Mother of Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church of Portland, Oregon and was also a member of Second Baptist Church in Galesburg for most of her life.

A funeral service is scheduled to be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 19 at Second Baptist Church. Pastor Jon Sibley will officiate. Burial will follow in East Linwood Cemetery. Visitation will be for two hours prior to the service. Memorials may be given to the family in care of Watson-Thomas Funeral Home.
