White, Vera Mae

Vera May (Randall) White, 87, formerly of 577 Clark St., Galesburg, died at 7:20 p.m. Wednesday, July 16, 2014 in the Knox County Nursing Home.

She was born August 4, 1926 in Raritan, Ill. the daughter of Carl and Amy (Bray) Randall. She married L. Clark White on March 17, 1943 in Wayland, Mo. He preceded her in death May 2, 2006.

She is survived by a son, Edward C. (and Marty) White of Galesburg; a daughter, Connie Rucker of Galesburg; two granddaughters, Shelley (and Rob) Burn of Peoria and Stacey Rucker of Galesburg; two great grandchildren, Lauren and Logan Burn; a brother, Gail (and Joyce) Randall of Macomb; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a son-in-law, Dale Rucker and two sisters, Lila Cox and Marjorie Armstrong.

Vera Mae was a homemaker. She enjoyed shopping, getting her hair done and spending time with her family. She and Clark enjoyed music and dancing. She was raised in the Sciota area and attended Blandinsville and Good Hope schools. She had lived in Galesburg since 1944. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church.

The family wishes to thank the staff at the Knox County Nursing Home for the excellent care they provided to Vera Mae for the past 11 years.

Funeral will be 1 p.m. Monday, July 21, 2014 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Rev. Phyllis Sterr will officiate. Visitation will be 3 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday at the chapel. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the family to distribute to various charities. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
