3rd Annual ‘From the Heart Block Party’ Invite Community to Celebrate

WGIL Newsroom . Local News 146

The community is being invited to party with the members of the Church of the Open Bible, Saturday afternoon.

The church is throwing their annual block party and looking forward to having as many people as possible coming out and joining them.

Although the day will have a number of fun activities, from a slip and slide to dunk tanks, Pastor Mark Dexter tells the WGIL Morning News they have an ulterior motive.

“Our thought process was the fact that when kids get ready to go back to school and in the economy today many don’t have the supplies they need to go back to school and so our heart was to be able to supply backpacks with school supplies and so we started out our first year with 100 backpacks and this year we’re doing 400 backpacks with school supplies,” says Dexter.

Dexter says they’re also giving away 40 bikes: 20 boys bikes and 20 girls.

He says all you have to do is show up and register, and all the registered kids will get a backpack and a chance to win a bike.

The event is from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the church.
