Illinois Garbage Truck Driver Hit by Train

WGIL Newsroom . State News 105

QUNICY, Ill. (AP) — A western Illinois man is recovering from moderate injuries after a train hit a garbage truck he was driving.

Illinois State Police says 43-year-old Christopher Miller was driving a garbage truck in Pike County on Monday afternoon when he started to cross the railroad tracks. A Norfolk Southern train pulling 41 railroad cars struck the truck’s right rear. The truck spun around and landed in a ditch. It’s unclear if the train was damaged.

Police say Miller was transported to Blessing Hospital and was ticketed for not wearing a seat belt.
