2 Men Rescued from Bucket Lift in Quad Cities

WGIL Newsroom . State News 99

MOLINE, Ill. (AP) — Harnesses and other safety equipment are being credited with saving the lives of two men who found themselves stranded in a bucket lift 120 feet in the air in northwestern Illinois.

Moline Fire Department spokesman Jim Versluis tells The (Moline) Dispatch that without the training and safety gear the two men would have fallen to the ground during the project Thursday at a Lutheran church.

Officials say the workers were preparing to caulk the church tower when the machine’s hydraulics failed, and the bucket began falling and tilting.

Firefighters later rescued the men. They declined medical attention.
