Ears and Ears of Corn

Three thousand ears of corn were steamed and served to those in attendance at this year’s Oneida Sweet Corn Festival.
This is the second year for the festival and it didn’t disappoint, with a corn eating contest, craft booths, a car show and for the first time bed races.

It didn’t matter how you ate your corn as long as you enjoyed eating it, but Oneida resident Joyce King tells WGIL it’s not so much the corn that brought her out to the festival.

” See people that maybe you don’t see cuz we work during the day, so you come out and see Sally that you haven’t seen for years.”

King also says the nice weather helped convince her to head out and explore the festival.

And when it comes to eating some good ‘ol fashion sweet corn, King says it’s all about the butter and salt nothing more.

However, for the more adventurous eaters out there they had the options to top their corn with flavors such as caramel, chocolate, and even lemon zest.
