Nicholas Sheley was convicted in May of murder for fatally beating three people and a 2-year-old with a hammer in a northwest Illinois apartment. The Telegraph in Dixon reports he was sentenced Monday to four life terms in those deaths.
The killings were part of a series of eight murders authorities say Sheley committed in summer 2008, stretching from his hometown of Sterling, Illinois, south to St. Louis.
Sheley already is serving life sentences for the deaths of two Illinois men that June. The new sentences will run consecutively to those.
Sheley will be tried next in Missouri for an Arkansas couple’s deaths. He could face the death penalty there.
