Johnson, F. Lee

F. Lee Johnson, 69, of Abingdon, IL passed away Tuesday August 26, 2014 peacefully at his home.

He was born January 4, 1945 in Monmouth, IL the son of John “Bud” and Eloise Tinkham Johnson. He is survived by three daughters Wendi Hook of Cameron, IL, Ricci (Todd) Ford of Bardolph, IL, and Krystal (Travis) Yeoman of Avon, IL; 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; one brother Donnie (Twila) Johnson of Avon, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother (Bob Johnson), and sister (Rosalie Jennings).

Lee was a farm hand and worked for several area farmers; his specialty was working with and breaking horses. He served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam as a Petrol Storage Specialist and later worked at Briggs Pottery for more than 30 years. He enjoyed woodworking, loved his garage and motorcycles. He enjoyed mowing and took great pride in his yard and home. He was a master carpenter. He was a member of the Abingdon Motorcycle club, Bushnell Chariot Racing Club, and the Abingdon American Legion. Most of all he loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. Lee requested that his services be casual attire. (blue Jeans, etc.)

Graveside service will be Saturday August 30, 2014, 11:00 am at the Prairie City Cemetery where military honors will be accorded. Visitation will be Saturday Morning from 9:00-10:30 am at the Corman Memorial Home Avon, IL. Memorials may be made to Illinois Cancer Care- Galesburg, IL.
