Spry, Edward E.

Edward E. “Ed” Spry, 66, of rural Galeburg, died at 4:35 p.m. Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at home.

He was born December 10, 1947 in Monmouth, the son of Earl and Margaret (Richardson) Spry Jr. He married Cynthia Kay Dama September 21, 1998 in Galesburg. She preceded him in death May 11, 2013.

He is survived by his mother, Margaret Spry of Hanna City; two daughters, Holly Spry and Marla (and Adam) Sidie, both of Monmouth; nine grandchildren; one great grandchild and a sister, Marjorie (and James) Towle of Bartonville. He was preceded in death by his father and a sister, Jean Spry.

Ed was an assembler at the Gale Products Divisision of Outboard Marine Corporation for many years. He then worked in the office and the box shop at Farmland Foods for many years. He graduated from Roseville High School and attended Carl Sandburg College.

Ed loved fishing and hunting and enjoyed drag racing and Indy cars. He loved his dogs Lucy and Roni.

He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from 1967 to 1969.

Funeral will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 30, 2014 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel Rev. James Ecklund will officiate. Visitation will be 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the chapel.
