Curtis BeardsleyCurtis Alan Beardsley, 59, of Galesburg, died at 10:35 a.m. Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at home.

Curt was born March 25, 1955 in Peoria, the son of Leverett L. and Beverly J. Sergeant Beardsley. Curt married the love of his life, Elaine P. Lefler-Stone on January 26, 1982 in Wataga. Curt is survived by his father, Leverett of Coal Valley; a son, Jared of Galesburg; a daughter, Adrianna Beardsley of Rio; a step son, Ryan Stone of Galva; two brothers, Conrad Moore of Tennessee and Benjamin “Doug” Moore of Galesburg; a sister, Rhonda (Herb) Lord of Tennessee; and five grandchildren, Alex and Aidan Wagner, Kyleb Meadows, Destiney McLaren and Brenden Beardsley. He was preceded in death by his mother, Beverly; his maternal grandparents, Dorothy L. and Conrad Cleon Sergeant.

Curt joined the US Navy in 1972. After receiving an honorable discharge he went to work for Maytag. While working at Maytag, Curt also worked as a roofer for Templeton Roofing, then he started Beardsley Roofing. He also worked as a carpenter. In his free time, Curt enjoyed searching for items with his metal detector, playing pool, golfing, fishing, playing chess and living life to its fullest. He was also a talented musician and loved to play the guitar, but most of all he loved spending time with his family.

Celebration of Life for Curt will be from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at Watson-Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg. Private family interment of cremated remains will be at a later date in Sherard. Memorials may be made to the family for a fund to be designated.
