The game didn’t end until yesterday due to the rain, but the rout didn’t end either. The Stark County Rebels opened the high school football season with a route of the Knoxville Blue Bullets 48-0.

HIGH SCHOOL GOLF
The first meet of the season for the Galesburg Silver Streaks boys golf team, due to the recent teachers strike, didn’t come until yesterday, but resulted in the Streaks placing second at the Geneseo Invitational. Coach Steve Cheesman says the team played well considering it was their first match, and gives them confidence and momentum. Bettendorf, Iowa was the meet champion. Jackson Wetherbee led the Streaks, shooting a 69 at Maple Bluffs Golf Course.
Morton was the champion at the annual Monmouth-Roseville boys golf invitational. The Titans placed ninth in the 20-team field. Among other area teams, Macomb placed seventh, Sherrard 10th, Mercer County 13th, United 15th, and Knoxville 19th. Sam Gillen and Nate Bizarri were among the top finishers for the Titans. Thomas Schwieter was tops for Knoxville, while Dalton Brentise was the lead finisher for United.
